May is Building Safety Month

For the last 36 years, communities all over the country have celebrated May as Building Safety Month. The City of Glendale’s Building and Safety Division will use this year’s celebration not only to host events during the month but to advertise to the community many events that will be occurring throughout 2016.

Each week of Building Safety Month will highlight one of the following important themes:
·         Building Solutions for All Ages
·         The Science Behind the Codes
·         Learn from the Past, Build for Tomorrow
·         Building Codes: A Smart Investment

We kick-off Building Safety Month on April 30th at the City’s Earth Day Celebration. Visit our booth to meet our staff and to get more information about upcoming activities. Next, be sure to tune in to the May 3rd City Council meeting where May will be proclaimed Building Safety month.

Visit our Building Safety Month website regularly during the month of May information about upcoming events including onsite accessibility trainings for commercial property owners, structural trainings for architects and engineers and energy training for designers & contractors.  Homeowners and business owners are encouraged to attend an informative workshop about the obtaining permits. Plus, be on the lookout for our open discussions on code amendments as we look to adopt the latest building codes by January of 2017.
