Doran Gardens
The Award of Excellence for a Hard-Won Victory recognizes the successful completion of the Doran Gardens affordable housing project in the face of overwhelming obstacles and challenges throughout the development process. The project involved a complex, first-of-its-kind financing strategy that weathered through the housing market downturn and other related hurdles.

The Award of Excellence for Innovation in Green Community Planning acknowledges the City’s innovative Greener Glendale Plan that, through its comprehensive framework, sets a new standard for climate action and sustainability planning which can be replicated by other local governments using in-house staff. It exemplified a municipality’s ability to develop and implement an effective sustainability plan with the use of limited financial resources.

The APA Awards recognize outstanding planning projects and environmental achievements in the Los Angeles Region by individuals, cities and businesses. As the top Los Angeles Chapter winner, Glendale will advance to compete at the State level in the California Chapter APA Awards Program.
