Habitat for Humanity Ground Breaking

Habitat Executive Director Sonja L. Yates with one of the new Habitat families (photo by SGV Habitat).
Three deserving low-income families will soon be able to call themselves homeowners thanks to the latest partnership between the City of Glendale and the San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity. These families participated in a ground breaking ceremony at the site of their future homes this past weekend.

Three new 3-bedroom 2½ bath homes homes will be built on the 800th block of Chestnut Street in Glendale. The selected families will contribute a minimum of 500 hours of "sweat equity" to build their homes and will become long term partners with SGV Habitat as they continue to build more homes throughout the San Gabriel Valley. Chestnut Homes is the 8th Habitat development in Glendale; a testament to the City's commitment to building and providing affordable housing.

SGV Habitat is still seeking donations for the Chestnut Homes build. To get involved, please visit www.sgvhabitat.org or call (626) 387-6899 extension 17.
